HIMAA is an organization of skilled health information management professionals committed to the ethical management of personal and health information for the benefit of all.
Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
CHIMA provides professional development and ongoing support to its membership and as the national registering body it sets the educational standards for the profession. Graduates of recognized educational institutes who successfully challenge a national certification examination are admitted to the Canadian College of Health Record Administrators.
CHIMA also maintains membership in the International Federation of Health Record Organizations (IFHRO) which allows for partnerships with other countries, formal communication regarding health information practices and the assisting with development and education in countries less advanced in management through exchange programs.
Both the HRABC and the CHIMA identify issues that relate to their membership and present these issues to the public, government and other professional associations.

The Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is pleased to annouce that members voted, with a strong majority, to approve eligibility for those who have not taken the examination in the past, or failed it without successful re-write(s) to have an apportunity to challenge the national examination for certification.
