Academic Award
The HRABC sponsors an academic award for graduating students of the Douglas College Health Information Services Program. The award is given to the student meeting the specified criteria. Awards are presented at the HRABC Annual General Meeting usually held in association with the Annual Conference. Here is a list of previous students who have won the award to date:

Criteria for Academic Award
- Registered as a full-time student in the Health Information Services Program
- Highest GPA (grade point average) over the five semesters (including practicum)

Student must have been carrying a full course load in each of the semesters.

Be an affiliate member of the HRABC
Professional Award
Note: This award has been replaced by the Leadership Award, starting in the 2007 year.

Criteria for Professionalism Award
- Demonstrates a professional and mature attitude towards the Health Record profession and the Health Information Services Program.
- Demonstrates Leadership abilities (class projects, program and College events)
- Show a sense of concern for, and willingness to help colleagues.
- Participate in program/profession-related discussions and activities
- Meet all HISP attendance requirements and workload deadlines.

Leadership Award
The HRABC sponsors a $250.00 leadership award for graduating students of the Douglas College Health Information Services Program. The award is given to the student meeting the specified criteria. (see list) Awards are presented at the HRABC Annual General Meeting usually held in association with the Annual Conference
Criteria for Leadership Award

Shows a professional and mature attitude toward the Health Information Management profession through a commiment to the Health Information Services Program.

Demonstrates leadership abilities in class projects, programs, HRABC activities and College events.

Models a sense of concern and willingness to enhance a positive learning experience of other students in the Douglas College HIS program.

Creates a sense of leadership to others by volunteering [class representative, peer tutor, volunteer in the community sector]

Achieves a minimum 3.0 GPA (75%) - B average through the preceding two semesters.

Meets all HISP attendance requirements and workload deadlines.

Maintains affiliate membership status with the HRABC - this must be confirmed with the association Membership Chair.

Selection of the recipient will be determined by HISP faculty.
